Under God
Usually terms like "blithering idiot" and such are avoided when writing one's opinion. But occasionally, they may be appropriate. Had I the availability of a blog months ago, I would had written in response to an editorial by Kenneth Davis in the New York Times about the use of "under God" in the pledge of allegiance. (Kenneth Davis wrote the hillariously funny book "Don't Know Much about History". Oh, was it actually meant to be taken serious?)
In his editorial, he explains that many of the founding fathers would be against the use of "Under God" because many of them were Masons. Okay, here is where I get to call Kenneth Davis a blithering idiot. So here it goes.
Kenneth Davis, you blithering idiot. I'll make this brief.
1. What is the first thing other than not being a man that disqualifies you from entering the masonic fraternity? Answer: Being an athiest. Athiests are not allowed. One must believe in a higher being. In America, the generally accepted term for the higher being is God. In the Middle East (Christian or Muslim), the term used is Allah.
2. Harry Truman, the President who pushed for "Under God" to be added to the oath belonged to what fraternity? Answer: The Masons.
Whatever one's view on whether or not "Under God" should or should not be in the oath does not change one undeniable truth...
Kenneth Davis is a blithering idiot.
Thank-you.
